Dubreuilville & the Magpie River live up to all expectations.

As the NOWT gets back to a full schedule in 2022, it is always great to visit all the Northern Ontario towns for their unique offerings, incredible landscapes, fishing opportunities and warm hospitality. Dubreuilville fulfills all of those categories in spades. The Magpie River/Reservoir offers up great walleye fishing and a chance to see wildlife at its finest. It hosts the 2nd stop of the NOWT and puts the Trail into high gear.

This years event saw some bigger weights than usual with lots of fish being caught throughout the day. 3 teams weighed 17+ lbs on day 1. Leading after day 1 with 17.68 lbs was the team of Jeff Smith and Samantha Fawcett anchored by 2 big fish. 2nd place with 17.50 lbs was Team Dorval(Gaetan & Steve), 3rd place with 17.42 lbs was locals father and son team Jessy & Francis Dechamplain. Rounding out the top 5, 4th place with 15.98 lbs Fred & Ayden Belanger & 5th with 15.78 lbs was James Smedley & Petar Kusic. Day 2 figured to be tougher with so many quality fish brought to the scale on Day 1 but someone always finds the fish.

Day 2 was a little quieter at the scales but some big fish and weights crossed the scale. Local Father and Son team(Francis and Jessy Dechamplain) managed to deliver 2 solid days on the Magpie River for the win. Weighing 14.80 lbs on day 2 was enough to get the victory. Their total weight over 2 days was 32.22 lbs. Coming in 2nd place was the team of Smedley and Kusic who were consistent both days and registered a total weight of 31.17 lbs. Rounding out the rest of the top 5: 3rd place with 28.03 lbs was Jonathan & Robert Collin, 4th place with 26.18 lbs was Jeff Smith and Samantha Fawcett & 5th place with 25.45 lbs Michael & Nolan Copetti
