The road to the NOWT championship isn’t slowing down as anglers compete for their spot on the list of 25 qualifying teams. Over 200 anglers met up in last week to take on the Kapuskasing and Mattagami Rivers at the Kapuskasing River Walleye Tournament.
Day 1 was lead by the Moonbeam team of Derick Brooks and Guy Laberge with their team weight of 16.45 pounds. In close pursuit was the father-son duo of Roger and Dany Vienneau with 14.12 pounds. Rounding out the top 3 was the Timmins team of Sebastien Lizotte and Jeff Vipond with 13.24 pounds.
Day 2 kept Brooks and Laberge on top with their day leading weight of 14.42 pounds. Following with a 4 pound improvement over day 1 was the team of Darcy and Mathieu Guenette of Timmins with 12.56 pounds. Third spot was filled out by the Vienneaus with 11.91 pounds.
With the weights totaled up it was clear the team leading both days won 2018 KRWT. With a weekend total of 30.87 lbs, Derick Brooks and Guy Laberge are the 2018 KRWT Champions! Congratulations!
Roger and Dany Vienneau earned second place with their total weight of 26.03 pounds.
Third place went to Sebastien Lizotte and Jeff Vipond with a total of 24.11 pounds.
